We support young pianists
of all nationalities
at the start of their professional careers
En Blanc et Noir, Festival international de piano was established and artistically directed by Robert Turnbull, who lived in Lagrasse and died there in December 2018. For the last decade, young international pianists, most of whom have won major competitions, have come to the village every July to play in Lagrasse’s fourteenth-century roofed market place, with concerts held at noon, 6pm and 9:30pm. The programme focuses on classical and romantic repertory, but also includes a wide range of music from other traditions. Supported by local authorities, EBEN also relies on generous donations from individuals.
Under the patronage of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, Mozart at Angkor will blend two stories, the Reamker and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte to represent a journey from darkness to light, resulting in self-discovery and the triumph of good over evil. Hailed by the BBC Music Magazine as something ‘not to be missed’, this production will bring together a cast combining Cambodian and international artists to perform in a temple at Angkor Wat for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Dates to be announced.
In 2021-22, we will be giving grants in partnership with the Royal College of Music, among other leading institutions.
